He has been raised in a way that makes him believe that money can buy everything and everyone. His mother Nandini is a housewife who has been mostly ignored by her husband, as she is more interested in her son's education. Gaurav is a self-centred man, who sees his academic achievements as a way to impress people and advance in life. He sees no need for his son to study too hard, as he feels that this would make him stand out among the crowd. Gaurav is irritated by Aditya's poor manner and often humiliates him in public. Nandini, on the other hand, loves her son unconditionally and is content with whatever her son can achieve in life even if he does not become a successful banker like Gaurav. Gaurav eventually turns his attention to Aditya's younger brother, Divya after coming to know that he has also scored well in the exams. One day, Aditya's class teacher admonishes him for not completing a home assignment. He is taken out of class and sent to a remedial class for weak students. When the principal learns that Aditya is from a well-off family, she suggests that he be made to repeat the class until he gets the grade. Gaurav however believes that it would appear as if his son's weakness were his fault. He takes Aditya out of school and hires private tutors for him. The tutors are abusive and constantly reprimand Aditya for his lack of progress in studies. As a result, Aditya fears that he cannot be an engineer like his father and quits school. While visiting her mother, Divya tells Nandini about his brother's difficulties getting into engineering, and she advises Aditya to return to school. Gaurav agrees to allow Aditya to go back but cuts all financial support for him. This makes Nandini feel helpless as she does not have the money herself to pay the class fees for her other children. One day she has an argument with her husband, who refuses to let them buy milk saying that it is an extravagance they do not need. cfa1e77820
